Replace foggy insulated glass

Haze trapped between the panes can spoil a clear view. We inspect the window and replace failed insulated glass with a new sealed unit.

Find out where the moisture is

Condensation trapped between panes is different from moisture on an accessible glass surface. We check that the insulated unit has failed before ordering a replacement, and inspect the sash and frame at the same time.

What we check in a foggy window

Moisture inside the unit

Persistent haze or droplets between the panes can indicate a failed seal. The sealed assembly needs assessment, even when neither pane is cracked.

The condition of the frame

Temperature changes, moisture and frame movement can affect seals over time. We check the opening rather than assuming the glass is the only issue.

A matching replacement

We measure the unit and confirm thickness, spacer depth, Low-E coating, tint and specified grid details. These determine how the replacement fits and looks.

Replacement instead of defogging

Glassma installs a new factory-sealed unit. This replaces the failed assembly and its seals while retaining a suitable existing frame.

Assess the haze before ordering glass.

Moisture on a surface you can reach and moisture trapped inside a sealed unit need different responses. We confirm the problem before specifying a replacement.

More about our process
  1. Tell us what you are seeing

Send your city or ZIP and a short description of the haze or condensation. Staff clarify the symptoms and normally email an estimate or proposal. You do not need to diagnose the seal yourself.

  2. Confirm the failed unit

We inspect the glass, sash and frame and measure the replacement.

  3. Specify new sealed glass

We order the unit to the agreed size, thickness, coating and tint.

  4. Install the glass

We remove the failed glass, prepare the opening and set the replacement with appropriate setting blocks and sealants.

  5. Check and clean

We check window operation and seals, clean the glass and remove old materials.

Foggy window questions.

A few practical details about assessing and replacing your glass.

Ask about your glass
Does foggy glass mean I need an entire new window?

Not necessarily. If the frame and sash are sound, the insulated glass unit can often be replaced on its own.

Do you offer window defogging?

No. We replace failed insulated glass with a new sealed unit.

Can the replacement match the other windows?

We check Low-E coatings, tint, spacer depth and specified grids before ordering. We explain the available match for your existing glass.

When will the new glass be installed?

After measuring, we order the custom unit and confirm the installation schedule when fabrication timing is known.

Get a clear view of the next step.

Start with your city or ZIP and a short description of the glass problem.

Our team will clarify the work and normally send an estimate and proposal by email. Measurements and photos can follow.

Start with the haze you can see.

Tell us your city or ZIP and which windows look cloudy. We can ask about the moisture and arrange the next step without assuming the glass has failed.

Sending a request does not book an appointment. We will confirm the details and next step with you.

You can also request a quote by phone or email.

A clearer view starts with the right assessment.

If the insulated unit has failed and the frame is suitable, we replace the sealed glass. We do not offer defogging as a repair.
