That can indicate interference between the bolt or latch and the frame or strike. It does not by itself prove the lock is faulty. Describe whether you must push, pull, or lift the door to secure it.
02Why does the door close but fail to latch?
The latch may miss its strike because the door has dropped or the opening has moved. Worn hardware, tight weatherstripping, or a frame problem can also interfere. A replacement lock alone may not address the cause.
03Can the door be secured before a permanent repair is ready?
That depends on the damage, the available hardware, and how the entrance is used. Call to discuss the immediate condition. Any temporary measure must account for people using the doorway and the final repair still needed.
04Do I need a new door after a break-in?
Not every damaged entrance needs complete replacement. The door, frame, glass, and fixing points need assessment to establish what remains usable. Tell us if the door is hanging loose, the frame is split, or glass is missing.
