A door that will not secure may need an adjustment, a replacement part or more extensive repairs. We assess the whole entrance to see what can stay.

  1. 1. Realign a sound door

    Adjusting how the door hangs can stop it catching and help the latch meet its opening. A sound door and frame may be able to stay.

  2. 2. Repair or replace the hardware

    A worn hinge, closer, latch or lock may need adjustment or a compatible replacement. The goal is a door that closes and locks properly.

  3. 3. Repair damage around the opening

    A split frame or damaged fixing points can stop the lock from holding. Frame repair, new glass or door replacement may be needed.

01Why does the lock work with the door open but not when it is shut?

That can indicate interference between the bolt or latch and the frame or strike. It does not by itself prove the lock is faulty. Describe whether you must push, pull, or lift the door to secure it.

02Does a door closer also lock the door?

A closer controls the door as it returns toward the frame. The latch and locking hardware secure it. These parts must work together; a door can appear shut while its latch has not engaged.

03Can a tenant or property manager request help?

Yes, you can describe the issue and ask about the next step. Tell us who owns or manages the property and who can approve the work. Access and authorization need to be agreed before a repair is arranged.

04Do I need to send photos or take measurements?

Neither is required for the first enquiry. A wide view of the opening and a close view of the fault can help later, if you can take them safely. Final glass and hardware specifications need to be checked before ordering.

05Can I call about damage outside normal business hours?
