Board-up provides temporary protection when an opening is exposed and a permanent repair is not yet possible. It is especially relevant when replacement glass needs to be ordered. Ask for both the immediate protection and follow-up repair to be explained.
02Is board-up a permanent repair?
No. It is an interim measure while replacement glass, a door, or other repairs are arranged. Ask when the opening will be reassessed, what the final work includes, and who will remove the temporary protection.
03Will boarding up damage a frame that could be reused?
The fixing method needs to suit the existing opening and its condition. Discuss how reusable framing will be protected before work starts. There is no single attachment method that fits every broken window or entrance.
04Does a board-up price include the replacement glass?
Do not assume it does. Temporary protection and permanent replacement are different stages. Ask for a written breakdown showing attendance, board-up, disposal, replacement materials, and installation as applicable.
05How long will temporary protection stay in place?
That depends on the permanent repair and material availability. Confirm the follow-up plan when the opening is secured, and report any loosening or further damage. Temporary protection should not be treated as a finished window or door.
