(Questions, answered)

Questions before replacing a door.

Decide what the complete opening needs.

Ask about your repair
01Can my door be repaired instead of replaced?

A hardware or alignment fault may be repairable. Damage to the door or frame can call for a different approach. The first step is checking how the door hangs, moves, closes, and secures before choosing parts or a replacement.

02Can a new door fit into my existing frame?

Sometimes, if the frame is sound, correctly aligned, and compatible with the replacement. A new door in a damaged or distorted frame may continue to bind or fail to latch. Confirm both parts of the opening before ordering.

03Can I replace a lock, hinge, or closer with any similar-looking part?

Appearance alone does not establish compatibility. Door weight, fixing positions, handing, function, and any rated assembly requirements matter. Identify the existing hardware and opening before buying replacements.

04Do I need tempered or laminated safety glass?

The location and purpose of the glazing determine the appropriate specification. Doors, entrances, and other impact-risk locations may require safety glazing. Glassma needs to assess the opening before the replacement is ordered.

05Can work be planned around customers, staff, or tenants?

Share your business hours, delivery times, access restrictions, and site contact. These affect scheduling and the repair approach. Agree the attendance window and any temporary access arrangements before work starts.

06Is the repair covered by a warranty?

Ask which workmanship and product warranties apply to the proposed repair, and request the terms in writing. Coverage can differ between the glass, hardware, and installation; the estimate should identify the applicable terms.
